Arctic communication in the global economy and the development of the Northern Sea Route

It has been substantiated that development of the Arctic should be regarded as a large-scale and long-term investment in the maintenance of the resource potential of Russia being the exclusive owner of the resource potential of the global economy for a long time. A number of scientifically based military and political, socio-economic, organizational and legal measures to protect the national interests of Russia in the Arctic as well as the development of the Arctic sea communications taking into account trends in the global economy have been recommended

The Northern Sea Route: The interaction of economic and defense components

The paper contains the analysis of the economic and defense components of the Northern Sea Route in terms of growing geopolitical confrontation between Russia and NATO including USA. It has been proved that the implementation of the "imperial" US policy stipulates strengthening both military and economic presence of Russia in this region. The necessity of development of the nuclear icebreaker fleet as an important element of protection and defense of national economic interests has been substantiated
